“Key Challenges for Audit Committees in Corporate Governance” - SARAS and the World Bank held a meeting

On November 24, within the frames of the World Bank and the European Union joint Project – Financial Inclusion and Accountability, SARAS and the World Bank organized an online meeting on: “Key Challenges for Audit Committees in Corporate Governance”.

The event aimed at sharing best practices and experiences in the field for members of audit committees and oversight boards. This information will help the board to improve the oversight of the external and internal auditors.The meeting also highlighted the important role audit committees play in ensuring audit quality and protecting the interests of users of financial information. 

At the meeting the speakers discussed the following topics: The Role of Audit Committees in Corporate Governance, Key Findings of the World Bank Corporate Governance ROSC, Cooperation between SARAS and Audit Committees, Audit Quality Indicators (AQIs), the Audit Committee’s Communication with External Auditors and Oversight of Internal Audit. At the end of the meeting, the speakers answered the attendee’s questions.

We would like to inform you that in order to promote the effective functioning of audit committees, SARAS and the World Bank will actively cooperate in the future and other activities will also be carried out within the frames of the World Bank and the European Union joint Project – Financial Inclusion and Accountability.
